James Wilson

Seen as the next star striker from the academy after Danny Welbecks departure, Wilson was given his first senior start for Man United by player-manager Ryan Giggs back in 2014.

Wilson had a debut to remember, scoring two goals in a 3-1 demolition of Hull City at Old Trafford. Club legend Giggs spoke of Wilson’s potential after the game:

He’s exciting and he’s trained with us the last couple of days and not looked out of place.

Wilson’s pace, acceleration and finishing make him a deadly poacher with bags of potential. At only 19 years old his statistics suggest a leading striker in the making, if given enough first team opportunities to develop.

In this particular save he has a couple of profitable loan spells at Championship side Fulham, hitting double figures in both seasons spent with the Cottagers.

However, Wilson doesn’t get another look-in at Man United and after several loan spells in the Championship he joins Sunderland for £4.4 million, where the goals start to dry up.
